Vacation Time! Going To A Regional?
by millie210 inthis is the first year i have not been at a summer assembly.. the friends here locally just got back from the regional in our area.. they mostly took their vacation time from work to attend.. while they were gone i had an epiphany...... why is it that the rank and file take their summer vacation time to attend an assembly (we have all heard this hammered in from the platform) whereas the governing body attend as part of their "work".. it cant be as simple as "well, they are giving talks" because there are many brothers that give talks from the rank and file also who have used up precious vacation hours and drug their entire family there plus give their parts.. or what about other brothers and sisters who volunteer and clean at the assembly.
on vacation.. so the pubs.
travel at their own expense, pay for their own rooms and food, and give parts and it is supposed to be viewed as their vacation.. the gb and c.o.s travel to the same assembly and stay in provided for accomadations, give a talk or two and they are "working".. what is that about?.

I am with you, Millie.... I think they should ride bicycles like the brothers in Africa have to also... Or walk thru croc infested waters... You KNOW Jehovah would protect THEM! -

Hello Everybody
by Thomas the Bill Engine ini didn't see an introduction forum anywhere but i thought it would be weird to start posting without first introducing myself so, here we are.
i'm 15, and i've been looking for a place to discuss my thoughts on the religion that i'm pretty much stuck in at the moment.
my mom and dad divorced over their different beliefs over a year ago (my mom is jw and my dad is an very knowledgeable apostate, so you can see how they would fight over it), and since then i've stopped believing altogether.. just thought i'd say hello.

Hey Thomas, good for you!
Hopefully, being so young, you will have time to untangle your brain from 'the wicked web WT weaves' in it's attempts to deceive... and be able to lead a cult free life.
Make friends with people outside the JW's, young and old, join clubs, talk to teachers at school, and get closer to your dad. Enjoy life, and MOST of all... do not feel guilty whilest doing so.... but be careful, haha!
You are only 15, how I wish..... I am now older, just found out about the lies the WT told 5 years ago. My husband and kids got out too! I can't look back, just go forward, and learn the lessons from the past, right?
Like Faydunaway said, everyone here can relate, and you will have a sounding board, a place to ask questions, seek answers and we all understand what it is like to be there.
Take care, cha ching!

Sorry to say it, PE, but.... Nazi is a good description... Would you put yourself in a Nazi concentration camp? Nope..... That is not life. Make choices that will improve your life, not make it worse... You only have so much of it left. -

OMG pale emperor, so sorry for you.. Welcome here, at least you will be able to express yourself & know that the people you are telling cashmere relate, right?
I guess I find myself wondering if I could live like that.. Or WANT to live like that???
Is your wife sincere, or just a shallow user? I hate to sound harsh, but reality can be a "beep".....
Once you find out /decide if you can stomach this most wonderful, happy, honest organization in the world, Then the getting decisions can be made.. And don't think that "this is a'local' problem"... It's everywhere.
Good luck!

FORENSIC ANALYSIS: The Governing Body as Lying Liars who Lie
by Terry inpattern of excuses.

Thank you again, Terry!
I love the title! Governing Body as Lying Liars who Lie.
Thank you for spending your time finding all these quotes!
So many people make excuses for them: "They are so good hearted" "They work so hard" or even this lame, stupid, moronic one (my JW sister gave) "Don't tell anybody this, but I think they are just a bunch of little old men who might have alzheimers" Why is she listening to them!!???? Really? Go down to a rest home, and listen to someone with Alzheimers! Base your life on what they tell you????
They had the same pattern of reasoning when it came to 1975. Blame the publishers for getting too excited! Same b.s. from the same mouths.
How many people can get their hands on these publications? Or have the time? Keep running on the hamster wheel.... Run, run, run!
Do.... not.... sit....with.... men.... of.... lies....

Reveal article Feb. 25, 2016 - "JWs' sex abuse scandal is a lot like Catholic Church's"

jehovah’s witnesses’ sex abuse scandal is a lot like catholic church’s.

We are very fortunate to have a team as dedicated as this Reveal crew is, as they are willing to do the research it takes to get at the root of the problem.
Just like the Boston Globe took quite some time investigating the Catholic Church, to expose the problems from those at the top, it will take some time- and evidence - to expose those at the top in the Watchtower.
I remember as a child hearing over and over again denunciations of the Catholic Church. Right? Nowadays, when I read through court documents, I was surprised to read & hear the WT lawyers use the sickening, heartless excuse of "clergy penitent privilege" in every breath and sentence it could.
Heidi Hervonen did an excellent job linking the Boston Globe articles, the Public Radio Show in Minneapolis, and last year's announcement by the Vatican that it will set up a tribunal to hold bishops accountable if they do not deal with sex abusing priests properly.
Is the WT now going to have to "set up tribunals" to "deal with Circuit Overseers" or "Service Desk officials" or "Wt lawyers" (let's not forget the men who are the "Guardions Of Doctrine') who do not deal with child sex abuse properly to keep up with the Catholic Church?
That's ironic, isn't it? The WT "keeping up with" the Catholic Church? Well, it certainly did when it came to child sex abuse occurring over and over again, and nothing being done about it, didn't they?

Do todays Jw's care at all about Russell and the pyramid?
by olongapo joe injust wondering, as i will be visiting active jw family in ohio in a few weeks, do you think it will be worthwhile dropping it into a conversation, about the wtbts pyramid near his grave, or try some other topic to try and wake them up.
i was never baptized and don't really care if they get upset or not, but it is only a day trip from ohio to pittsburgh, and thought it would be fun if they denied it, and then drove their to see it for ourselves.

I have had a few people say, "someone else put that pyramid there after he died.".... and so begins the circular arguments.
I like the idea of saying, "I will not sit with men of lies.".... What was the first sin? lying.... What made the whole world fall into it's evilness? Satan lying... Satan is a liar, and the father of the lie. (To which JWs will agree)
Then, you bring up the ARC trials, and the lies that were told. It is not doctrine, it is just plain old lying. No excuses can be given for lying.
Just keep repeating, "God will not make me sit with men of lies" "Jesus would not shun me or disfellowship me for not wanting to sit with people who act like his number one adversary" "My conscience will not allow me to support liars" "Do I have to support people who lie?"

Number 7 made me laugh Rebel8!
I hated them telling us where to stay! My friend stayed maybe an hour and 20 minutes away from the convention... It took me about an hour and a half... She had traveled 6 hours to get down there, and could not stay "in the city.".... WT probably couldn't make as much money, so they told everyone they 'had to commute'.
